Morton Underwood, UK

For Longbridge Light Festival 2014, MortonUnderwood installed a number of sonic graffiti pieces around Longbridge town centre. Their sounds were designed to reflect the nature of the site and its history. The sounds created by the objects shifted as the light changed during the festival.

MortonUnderwood explore ways of making and interacting with sound. They create new musical instruments with particular emphasis on bass and contrabass. One such is the 'Giant Feedback Organ', commissioned by the Southbank Centre. Their aim is to create moments of intrigue and excitement through sound. MortenUnderwood’s current projects include a sound art version of 'Giant Feedback Organ', developing sonic graffiti pieces such as their ‘A Word In Your Ear’ message recorder and running their monthly ‘If Wet Salon’.

MortonUnderwood is a sound art and musical instrument design duo, consisting of equal parts David Morton and Sam Underwood. Formed in 2012, MortonUnderwood allows Sam and David to explore their joint love of musical instrument design and interactive sound art.
